MALMAD Services

The MALMAD member institutions are the eight universities of Israel. In addition, some thirty colleges and research institutes with "Associate Member" status subscribe selectively to various services. Services are provided directly to work stations at each institution based on institutional IP address recognition.

The following services are provided to MALMAD members (full and associate) and to members of the linked catalogs network (most institutions are members of both but some participate in one and not in the other)

MALMAD Members

- Participation in group subscriptions (from inquiry to payment)
- Listing of all digital subscriptions (including private ones) in the Union Catalogs ULS and ULE
- Preparation and maintenance of institutional e-journal subscription lists

Catalog Network Members

- Participation in the National Union Catalog (ULI)
- Copying records from ULI in aleph-to-aleph mode which retains correct Hebrew and Arabic directionality
- Copying bibliographic and authority records from OCLC Worldcat Institutions which participate in both MALMAD and the Catalog Network can receive new e-journal cataloging records and updated e-journal URLs (requires ULS linking fields in the library's catalog records)

Membership fees:

- Malmad associate membership: 12,000 NIS per year
- Catalog network membership (ALEPH users*): 12,000 NIS per year
- Membership in both: 21,000 NIS per year
